Britten - Rejoice in the Lamb
Cherwell Singers; Exeter College Chapel, Oxford; December 2006. This is a setting of words written by Christopher Smart while in a madhouse, and includes delightful sections in praise of his cat and a mouse. One of the symptoms of his madness was an unpredictable compulsion to pray in public regardless of the situation. Britten set the words only a few years after part of the manuscript was rediscovered.
