 Purcell - Passacaglia (King Arthur)

This chorus in the form of a passacaglia is from Purcell's music for the semi-opera King Arthur. The semi-opera was a curious form in which the music was only used for unimportant parts of the plot; this chorus ('How happy the lover') is actually an attempt by evil spirits to divert Arthur from his quest to rescue his beloved. The Cherwell Singers, as usual.
